What could Delay your Move to Enfield
Posted on 02/09/2014
You can have planned your move from your current home to your new house in Enfield meticulously, you could have every details decided upon, have everything in place, all the relevant removal companies etc. hired and even have planned where everything needs to go in your new home to help make unpacking easier and quicker. However, there are always external factors that could come along and ruin all of this planning, delaying or even putting a complete halt to you moving home. Making yourself aware of these will help you to deal with them on the day, should they be an issue:
• The weather: what are you going to do if it is pouring down with rain on removal day, how are you going to move boxes that absorb water and then fall apart. This is often something people do not take into consideration but could severely affect your ability to move home. Make a plan for if it were to rain, ensure you have some water-proof sheets to hand to cover your belongings, and keep a couple of umbrellas to hand. If you are expecting snow either before or on removal day consider gritting the pathway from your home to the removal van ready.
• Traffic and driving: Make sure you carefully plant the journey to and from your new home, make sure that you have an alternative route you can go if the main one you take is blocked or is at a standstill with traffic. Make sure that your large removal van will be able to travel this route, that there are no bridges or small roads on the route that the vehicle will be unable to manoeuvre.
• The Chain: when you buy a property you will more often than not be caught up in a chain, you cannot buy a home unless someone is buying yours, the seller you’re buying from cannot sell if the home they want to move into has fallen through, etc. if at any point during the move one person in this chain cannot sell or buy a house and so has to pull out, this could affect everyone else within the chain. Possibly meaning either the sale of your home falls through or you are unable to purchase the new house yet. Try to keep this chain as small as possible to avoid this happening to you.
• The Bank: If you are like most people who require a bank in order to finance your move, you will need to ensure everything is in place with the financial institute, so that they can release the money as soon as you ask them too. If there is something wrong it is better to know before moving day as even something as simple as a missing signature can delay your funds being released.
• Fixtures and Fittings: You will need to make sure you have removed safely all of the fixtures and fitting that you are taking to you to your new home, you cannot leave the property in an unsafe manner which means any wires sticking out etc. will need to be fixed. This may take more time than you realise and may even require you to call out an electrician.
• Keys: Obtaining the keys to your new home and giving the keys for your old home to the real estate agent or directly to the buyer will take up some time. Furthermore you may decide to change the locks on your new property as you have no guarantees that there are no previous residents of the house who still have a key to access the property.
